This book by Sally Clarkson is one of those. Rather than another tome detailing all we should be doing as moms, Sally uses her platform to paint a picture of the whys behind the whats. Inspiring, encouraging, refreshing and life-giving, this is what all books for moms should be. Highly recommended!

Sally's newest book is like sitting down with a dear friend as she shares wisdom and encourages you in all aspects of life. Sally addresses areas such as owning your vision, faith, integrity, legacy, marriage, motherhood, and influence. She shares many stories from her life and the lessons God showed her through them. I love that there are so many new stories that I haven't read about in previous books. As you read this book, you will feel like you are hearing from a wise mentor, a true Titus 2 woman, and God uses the truths she shares to do a work in your heart. So many women today do not have a vision of what a life-giving home, marriage, and relationships looks like. We have pictures of a pinterest-perfect life, but not the wisdom required to live faithfully through each day, through the hurts and the mundane. Sally speaks to your heart on all of this and more. She encourages and inspires by constantly taking us back to Jesus, how he lived, loved, and sacrificed. You will find scripture references, thought and discussion provoking questions, and practical wisdom. This book is great for a group study, a small study, and for personal study and reflection. Also, as many of Sally's books have been written specifically for mothers, this book truly speaks to everyone and is not solely focused on motherhood. You will be moved through reading this book and a spark will be ignited to own your life!

Jesus calls us to revolutionary principles – to love, to forgive, to give to the poor, to live for eternity rather than to build our own kingdom on this earth, to be humble, to give up our rights,” Sally Clarkson writes in her book, "Own Your Life: Living with Deep Intention, Bold Faith, and Generous Love."
At two hundred and seventy-two pages, this paperback targets women searching to be closer to God by reflecting on how He can change attitudes, intentions, and lifestyles. Using mainly the New American Standard Version of the Bible, the NLT, ESV, NIV, and HCSB are also referenced.
After an introduction regarding having a legacy, the book is divided into five parts with two to five chapters each. Endnotes and the author’s biography complete the book. All chapters start with a famous quote and Bible verse and end with an “Own Your Part” section dedicated to numbered questions or suggestions along with a prayer by the author for the reader.
With most of the book a reflection by the sixty-year-old writer of her path in life learning about God, she offers her stories of marriage, miscarriages, children, in-laws, and issues with other women she has experienced throughout her seasoned years that have taught her to be closer to God. With references of sailing, tornadoes, trips, and speaking at conferences, Bible verses and theology are interjected.
The first part of three chapters discusses barriers to owning your life and not to settle for the norm. The second part considers living with eternity in mind and looking to God as a life coach. The third short section relates to the supremacy of God and allowing the Holy Spirit to control and strengthen. More detailed is part four containing five chapters exploring attitudes and actions that can transform spiritualism, faith, emotions, reactions, and integrity. The final chapter relates to creating a legacy by having love in the home, marriage, and motherhood, and influencing others.
Although this read is based on this mature woman’s personal experiences, ladies of all ages should be able to glean the concept that God is the One who owns your life as you give up of yourself to Him.

If you're a mom, you need this book!

The writer of Ecclesiastes warns, "the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body." As a confirmed bibliophile, I can attest to this truth! But once in awhile, there's a book written that, rather than wearying one's body, brings renewed strength and vigor to it. This book by Sally Clarkson is one of those. Rather than another tome detailing all we should be doing as moms, Sally uses her platform to paint a picture of the whys behind the whats. Life as a mom in today's world is especially exhausting as we fight against the current of lowered morals, lax standards and a life-draining culture. Inspiring, encouraging, refreshing and life-giving, this is what all books for moms should be. Highly recommended!
