About the Author
Dr. Scott Larson is president and founder of Straight Ahead Ministries, an international ministry working with juvenile offenders and those who serve them in 19 states and 5 countries since 1987. He has a Master’s of Divinity degree and a doctorate in Leadership Development. He is an adjunct professor at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Gordon College.
Daniel Tocchini is the founder of the Association for Christian Character Development (ACCD) and the creator of its transformational training offerings. Over the past thirty years, he has trained over 30,000 people. His client list includes Disney,Microsoft, Seagate, Interstate Battery, ESPN, and World Vision.

Cuts to the Core

Groundwork is a cutting edge book by two amazing authors. Over the years, Scott Larson has changed my outlook on youth work and provided invaluable resources on working with high-risk youth. This book is an amazing update containing the newest psychological and theological insights into helping those who see true transformation in life's hardest corners. Dan and Scott are deep and realistic as they address the value of unpleasant emotions like despair, they way good-intentioned helpers can be a hindrance, and the need to face head-on our deep-set excuses we all have for staying the way we are instead of pursuing the fullness God has for us. I cannot reccomendation this book enough, for deeper personal understanding and for those who seek to help others transform in areas that most would rather not engage. Few people have the courage to help others take a truly bold and Christian approach to areas like crime and addiction; these two do.

We all resist change, mostly out of fear. What if that fear and pain actually led to a transformation? Scott Larson and Dan Tocchini walk you through the powerful work of change and transformation. By opening up the possibilities, many of which go unnoticed unless one intentionally and truly listens, we can all open up a future that is unprecedented. As Scott explains we can become wounded healers or unhealed wounders, the choice is ours whether we wish to participate fully in life and in relationships or remain in the margins. This book can be very powerful if one is willing to step into the process of transformation.

Good enough never is.

This is not a "self-help" book, but one on transformation, and one that helps us to challenge the assumptions that can keep us struck. It's a great resource for people who have come to a place in life where they think "this is it?" or where they realize that good enough is never good enough. The chapters are concise, insightful, to the point, and come with study questions at the end that help in the process of transformation. With those questions, it can be a great resource for small group discussions.
I have already recommended this book to many friends and I hope that they will grow through it as I have.
I have worked with Scott for 20+ years and this book is one of his and Dan's best.
