He was born in Los Angeles, California, has traveled throughout the world and enjoys researching ancient history. Through writing, he hopes to take his readers on journeys of learning and adventure in both current and historical times.

A wonderful combination of travel advice

A wonderful combination of travel advice, humorous adventure, and historical facts from John Peters as he takes his family on a three-week, 4,000 mile family driving vacation. Although this book could have benefitted from a "You Are Here" map at each location that was mentioned, and some photos of the various well-known (and some not so well-known) landmarks, hotels, cabins, and restaurants, I found it to be an easy read; and quite entertaining as well. From the various wrong turns, multiple arcotophobic (fear of bears) encounters, constant stream of bikers, spelunking through caves and mines, white-water rafting, and visiting many national parks, we are are given a first-hand look at an epic road trip from Los Angeles to Mount Rushmore and back, while passing through Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Jackson Hole, Yellow Stone National Park, and various other interesting places along the way. This is a wonderful MUST-HAVE travel guide if you intend to create your own memories this way.

Family fun on a road trip!

Written with humor and insight into the unique pleasure of a family road trip. The author described the natural beauty and family fun activities along our highways. Really enjoyed his reviews of their experiences in our national parks, and so many other interesting places they stopped along the road. Good information and tips on the lodgings and restaurants. I enjoyed that he included his young children's perspectives, too - and they're not always the same! Good to see those included in a travel book when we're trying to plan a vacation everyone will enjoy.
