Your digital "friend" takes you on an insider's tour of Philly

This guidebook uses the affordances of ebook technology to become your digital companion on your visit to Philadelphia. It is not an electronic copy of a paper guidebook, and is not intended to be read cover to cover. It starts you off in the morning (are you an early riser? click here. Oops, after noon already, click here) and then provides you with a few brief, helpful descriptors of what you might do first. Each choice is a hyperlink to an information page. The information pages give an overview of the activity as well as tips and the practicalities of where it is (google map link too), when it's open, and how much it charges. It's not the in-depth info you might get from some guide books, but it's enough for a tourist on the go. And when you've finished your visit to one place, you get another three choices - close, a bit farther, or farther still. The spots featured are not just the usual suspects, although of course Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell are in there, but also some of the other spots, such as the quirky Mutter Museum. The food establishments are also not as extensive as other guide books, but rather the recommendations that a Philly native might give you. (hmm...will I forgive you mentioning Monk's Cafe, my personal favorite for beer, burger, and fries, if it gets too crowded?) An index in the back of the book links you back to all the places featured in the book. My one complaint is that some of the hyperlinks didn't work or required several taps - not sure if that was because I was reading on an iPad rather than a Kindle.

A Great Guide to Philadelphia

Thank Jim for sharing your city with us. I have only visited Philadelphia once, and only went to Independence Hall and the immediate surrounding area. I wish I had this book at that time, as after reading it I have discovered so many interesting things to see and do, that now I want to go back. The Choose-A Way design makes it easy to plan your day.
