This makes sense! This book makes Russian almost seem easy!

This is a great little book! I think this would be beneficial to anyone trying to learn the language whether they're brand new to it or brushing up on the basics. It is especially difficult to learn a language from a book. And a lot of it is the way the books are put together. Some will assume you already have knowledge of the Cyrillic alphabet and offer little or no instruction on pronunciation. Others take a different route, focusing first on the rules of the language; grammar, tenses, pronoun classes, verb conjugation, etc...
This is usually dry information that quickly bores almost any reader. I don't know about you, but I didn't learn to talk by first learning the basics of English. I learned, I think we all learned, by listening.
This book takes this into account. For every term, we are given the English as well as the Russian, but also --in red-- an easy to read pronunciation! We are given lessons in grammar and conjugation and tenses and such, but these lessons are given with common, every day phrases, making them easier to relate to. Having the lessons imbedded among these common sayings brings the whole things to life. It's no longer a dry, stuffy grammar lesson. It is presented as common phrases and terms we might use in our everyday lives. Certainly phrases we would want at our disposal.
I would recommend this to anyone learning the language, either as a vital guide for the tourist who can easily flip through it on the spot and find the phrase, as well as it's pronunciation, he or she may need. It would also do well as a supplement to any other lessons or courses one might be studying, as it puts the language in a less intimidating light than many books I have seen attempting the same.

A Great Little Gem of an Ebook

If you were ever headed for Russia, didn't speak a lick of Russian, and wanted to at least be competent... STOP... buy this book and proceed. Scouring Amazon, I found this to be the perfect read for the long flight to Moscow or other cities in Russia. If you'll notice, a lot of Russian language manuals are super thick and simply unreadable after awhile. This little booklet was easy to read and the charts made it easy for me to follow.And realistic pronunciation! Unlike lots of other books, it doesn't go overboard and expect you to speak fluent Russian by the time you get off the plane. All you want to do is know how to get from Point A to Point B, order some decent food at the restaurant and communicate with a few locals without insulting them. There are a ton of ebooks out there on Amazon and unfortunately there is a lot of crap. This book is one of the gems. A must have if you ever want to speak a little Russian in a short period of time.

good for the basics

Save the deep immersion of the Russian langauge for stuff like Rosetta Stone and professional classes. If you're headed to Russia on leisure or on business... or maybe you're just headed over to a Russian household for dinner and you want to make a good impression... I don't think there's a better ebook for you to buy out there on the market.
Short, sweet and easy, this is a book you can breeze through in half of a day, and the charts make it real easy to pronunciation and practice at your own pace. There isn't a ton of words and phrases, just enough for you to look slightly competent while perusing the streets of Moscow... or talking it up with a few business associates over some vodka.
Stereotypes aside... a handy little ebook worth keeping in your library. Pull it out from time to time and learn a few cool new phrases. you only live once!
