Enjoyed it, well researched and thorough

I really liked this book. I have read several books on this subject but this one is very well researched and thorough. I like that the book is large. It makes it easy to read. There is a printing error, the text on page 436 and 437 are switched, you have to read 437 then go back to 436 then on to 438.

Interesting But Too Much Filler

I like Stephen Quayle. His books on giants are fascinating, and if you read any of his works you should go to those. This book is good, but be warned, some of the material is found in his other books, and a lot of the material is copied from old legends. There are parts where you will read two and three page stories from old accounts that were simply copied into the text. I am not saying this is right or wrong, but it does come off as a lot of filler used to extend the pages of the book. Also one of the biggest problems is the book is filled with many questions marks, as in providing a legendary account and then stating, "Might this not be true?" or, "Is it possible this is based on a true story?" These types of sentences are found often in this work. What are the 'little creatures'? They range from all sorts of legendary creatures people have written about for centuries, including fairies and gnomes and other such myths. Quayle is hinting that sightings and stories of bizarre beings are increasing and possible are demonic in nature. Interesting, yes. Repetitive, yes. Expensive, yes. But if you like his work you will most likely enjoy this one too. Otherwise just stick with Genesis Giants.

Great Info with a Serious Flaw

Great info but with fatal flaw.

Pros: Well written. Well researched and documented. The info is timely and the warnings against demonic forces are real and to the point. Information every Christian should be aware of.

Cons: Dangerous illustrations! As one who has ministered to folks with demonic oppression I realize that Satan uses sex to entrap and lead people astray. Why would a Christian author have pictures/drawings of near naked or provocatively dressed women in his book? Do we really need to see a full page drawing of Eve nude? (p.13) At least her nipples are covered with hair. The cover has bothered everyone I've shown it to. One viewer wondered who the woman on the cover was trying to seduce. Many of the illustrations are the kind that you would find in old fairy tale books, the kind that scared the reader. That fear is also used by occult forces.

The author's words are a clear enough warning against the dangers of the occult without the questionable illustrations. OTOH it does make for a nice, overpriced coffee table book. Perhaps that was the intent in the first place.

I would like to see this available as lighter weight paperback with just the text. That would be very useful for those who need to know about the "dark side".
Until I know what the purpose of this book really is, I believe I will pass on buying any more of their books or listen to their web programs.

Just because crime rates are falling across the planet does not necessarily mean that wickedness has somehow disappeared.

In chapter seven we shall encourage ourselves with the fact that not all end time events will be negative. Jesus said in Matthew 24:14 NIV, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."

Again we shall analyses statistical evidence about the preaching of the gospel in the face of the earth; we shall also consider how technology can be used to help us preach God's word today.

In chapter eight of this book we shall provide a short history of events leading up to the revealing of the antichrist in the last days of time. We shall use specific chapters and dates from the Book of Daniel to provide us with an overview of this period in history.

In the penultimate chapter of this book we shall consider who will be invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb; and how the rapture might relate to this event in Revelation Chapter 19. We shall also consider what the potential requirements might be for those want to go up in the rapture.

In the final chapter of this book Jesus provides a warning in Matthew 24:45-51 that church leaders may not recognize the signs of the times. In other words, if church leaders can be deceived about such events, how might they treat those God has given them charge over.

Packed with usable info

This is a brief, but valuable guide to the expat experience in a country which is notoriously difficult to navigate. The author concentrates on the nuts-and-bolts of daily survival and does a good job of providing the kind of insider tips that are so vital. As you would expect, he gives a great deal of advice on restaurants and entertainment, but he also includes information on transportation, banking, visas, and other matters which MUST be considered if you are planning on becoming an ex-pat. In short, he's giving the newbies (or wanna-be newbies) the benefit of his experience. Learning doesn't HAVE to be by trial-and-error. You can learn from someone else's mistakes and it's much easier to do so.

I downloaded this as a freebie promotion and $10 is a bit rich for my blood, but I can certainly see that it would save you far more than that if you are actually considering a trip to or a stay in China. This guy knows his stuff.

If you're interested in China, I can recommend the hilarious and very educational HEY COMRADE, PULL MY FINGER by the inimitable Texas John. It's not only a hoot, I learned a great deal about the Chinese and about Chinese culture.

This was almost the only book that I found about Singapore in Jakarta when I was planning to visit for few days Singapore. Unfortunately I was not careful about the typography and the font size used in this guide. It is impossible to read this guide without a lope. Unfortunately I was not carrying a lope with me for this visit. I have brought with me other books of the same size and volume, but fully readable. Why so careless about the form?

Solid. Biblical. Practical.

Oh man!!! Where to begin! My husband and I ordered this book knowing it would be great! Truly this is a keeper. Practical Truths were shared and powerful illustrations of what it looks like when we preach (teach) for God alone. I believe my eyes were opened by Piper's personal examples of relying on God and trusting Him in every part of His preaching. Even though we "know" we are to rely solely on the Holy Spirit. It was still very humbling for this teacher/preacher duo to read and reflect on how we are not trusting God to sustain us I'm doing the work He, Himself called us to. I would and already have suggested this to many already.

One of the best books on preaching.

John Piper’s The Supremacy of God in Preaching get’s better with every new edition. It’s amazing that lines like “preaching is expository exultation” weren’t in the first edition. Piper clearly lays out the aim of this book, “My burden in these pages is to plead for the supremacy of God in preaching—that the dominant note of preaching be the freedom of God’s sovereign grace, that the unifying theme be the zeal that God has for his own glory, that the grand object of preaching be the infinite and inexhaustible being of God, and that the pervasive atmosphere of preaching be the holiness of God” (23-24). He then argues for this plea in the way he structures his book.

Piper splits his book into two parts. The first is his argument for why God should be supreme in preaching, and in the second he demonstrates how to make God supreme in preaching with guidance from the ministry of Jonathan Edwards. The first part contains four chapters: The Goal of Preaching: The Glory of God, The Ground of Preaching: The Cross of Christ, The Gift of Preaching: The Power of the Holy Spirit, and The Gravity and Gladness of Preaching. Part two contains three chapters: Keep God Central: The Life of Jonathan Edwards, Submit to Sweet Sovereignty: The Theology of Edwards, and Make God Supreme: The Preaching of Edwards.

This is a very good map with half of Namibia on one side and ...

This is a very good map with half of Namibia on one side and the other half on the back of it. It also has the places of interest marked which is very helpful. My Globetrotter map of Namibia has all of Namibia on one side and some maps of towns and blow-ups of different parts of Namibia on the back. So this map (Reise) is better for Namibia than the Globetrotter one as it has more detail on it.

Good bulletins for Palm Sunday

I have purchased many bulletins throughout the year and they all are great. These are easily printed on with a laser printer and have a blank backside.
The only reason I took of one star was because the print quality was a little less than some other brands. But overall, these are good bulletins for churches.

A strange guide book.

I got this book as it was about Thailand and it was free. I was under the impression that it was a guide book of sorts about Bangkok. It sort of was in bits but the information provided would be of no use to the prospective tourist. Along with the guide book aspect of this book it also veered off and had a large section on building a fish pond and a large section about how to build a window box. I give it two stars as I was able to finish it.

Anti-anti-kontakion: curse not the train

Buy it, if (a)you know the route from Oxford to Paddington and back; (b) don't know the route from Oxford to Paddington and back; (c) you like or think you might like commuting by train; (d) want an intimate, if briefly expressed, insight into English cultural habits in the late 20th century; (f) don't mind laughing out loud on trains at what you're reading.

This commuter's diary records impressions, sunsets, landscapes, passing lusts, friends, strangers, and random overheard conversations ("You mean that creek is the Thames?"), interspering them with classically-formed Curses on the Train which end with the ritual formula: "A curse on the train. Anathema sit." The half-life of the British Rail train, the life the journey takes on of its own accord, emerges, changes with the seasons, and the occasional foray onto a train taken at a different time.

It is no longer possible to get a Black Velvet in the bar car; fewer and fewer commuting civil servants exhibit, in crowds, tactical nous nursed by the study of the texts of Roman generals, but the rabbits in the fields and the twin mammaries of Wittenham Clumps have not changed, and the sight of an entire car of newspaper-reading season ticket holders holding up their tickets in unison still exists. Sheep-commuters still stand in the aisles. Meanwhile, the rest of us goats are sitting, reading one another's luggage labels surreptitiously and upside-down, finding out who we are, mentally raising a G & T to the blind seer who taught us.
